Your Partner Knows If You’re Sexually Satisfied (Study)

By Jessica Raymond

Therapist & Dating Coach

Thinking about faking that orgasm? Worried about hurting your partner’s feelings? Before you give that awe-inspiring Oscar performance in the sack, read this.

Couple in bed -- orgasmic blissUniversity of Waterloo says that men and women are both equally perceptive of detecting their partner’s sexual satisfaction.

And The Study Says:

The study was recently published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour.

“We found that, on average, both men and women have fairly accurate and unbiased perceptions of their partners’ sexual satisfaction,” said Erin Fallis, the lead author of the study.

“We also found that having good communication about sexual issues helped participants to understand their partner’s sexual satisfaction. However, even if sexual communication was lacking, a person could still be fairly accurate in gauging his or her partner’s sexual satisfaction if he or she was able to read emotions well.”

The Sexual Script

Fallis says that over the course of a relationship, each partner will create what is known as a “sexual script” — a set routine of what his or her partner enjoys in bed. Depending on the feedback a person gets from their partner in the sack, he or she will feel inclined to change their sexual script or not.

The studied showed that couples were quite adept at deducing what their partners liked and didn’t like over time. And from this, partners could tell whether they were kicking ass in the sack or not.

This further validates the need for communication in a relationship. Many couples are closed off when talking about their sexual relationship.

If a partnership is to thrive, full disclosure is needed when it comes to physical intimacy. So tell your partner what you like, and encourage him or her to tell you what they like. Don’t be shy!
